The treasure of ocean carved abalone shells displayed below sculpted by sea worms produce unique shapes that often resemble sea creatures of many colors.
It is a collector's dream shell also known as an "opal of the sea". Rare fish-like shapes seen here would make for a museums' delight under glass.
Abalone, known as sea opals we discovered on beaches of the lost coast of California over 30 years ago at Mendocino, CA. Abalone makes beautiful jewelry like abalone earrings, abalone pendants, abalone necklaces, abalone anklets, abalone cuff links and abalone pins. Our work was discovered by The Smithsonian Institution of Wash, D.C and exhibited at The National Museum of American Art.
